Regarding the profile pic... Off the top of my head, I can't think of a direct reason why you may have had trouble adding an image... So, let me give a basic walk through to how to do it now you're already signed on:
1) What I've typically done is make a 183 x 183 pixel image (saved as a jpg or a png)
2) Then go to your profile page (after logging in). You should be on it already, so you just have to scroll up. If you come back later, just click on the 3rd navigation tab called "My Page"
3) At the top left (under the navigation) you should see the default profile icon (the gray person silhouette). Under that, there should be a link to "Change My Photo". You can also click on the link "My Settings" in the top right box of your page.
4) On the "My Settings" page that either link takes you to, the 4th item down is regarding your profile photo. click the pic icon. Then in the little pop up window, choose the radio button called "Upload an image from your computer". Then click "Browse...". Then in the window that pops up, find your 183 x 183 pixel jpeg you created in point 1. Choose that pic, then click the "Done" button.
5) Scroll to the bottom of the "My Settings" page where the "Save" button is (on the left side). After clicking that, your settings should be saved and you can now click on the "My Page" navigation tab at the top.
Provided you are using a 183 x 183 pixel jpeg (or a similar sized jpg image that the system will automatically crop) and your internet connection is stable, the profile image should update. If not, send me a message about what you did and any errors or other issues that happened. Regardless, we'll get that profile pic up!!! =)
